King’s Women’s Basketball – Ellen Doty

During the 07/08 season Ellen Doty played in two games for King’s before being forced to leave school due to a season ending injury. Because of the injury in October of 07 she withdrew from the basketball team as well as from classes for the remainder of the 07/08 academic year.  Two issues arise from this.  Has Ms. Doty used a year of ACAC eligibility and is Ms. Doty eligible to compete for King’s during the 08/09 season.  Commissioner B. Hendsbee ruled that based on Art.1 Sec. 5 Rule 1.3.3 and Rule 1.1.8 of the OC Ms. Doty did not play more than 30% of the King’s schedule and after reviewing supporting documentation of the injury she will not be charged with a year of ACAC eligibility for the 07/08 season.  Furthermore, she is eligible to compete for King’s during the 2008-09 season.
