MacEwans Women’s Volleyball Eligibility Ruling, Meagan O’Neill

Meagan played in two games for MacEwan Women’s Volleyball during the 07/08 and was forced to leave school for medical reasons.  She also withdrew from classes in October of 07 for the 07/08 academic year as a result of her illness.  Two issues arise from this.  Has Ms. O’Neill used a year of ACAC eligibility and is Ms. O’Neill eligible to compete for MacEwan during the 08/09 season. 

Commissioner B. Hendsbee ruled that based on Art.1 Sec. 5 Rule 1.3.3 and Rule 1.1.8 of the OC Ms. O'Neill did not play more than 30% of the MacEwan’s schedule and after reviewing supporting documentation of the injury she will not be charged with a year of ACAC eligibility for the 07/08 season.  Furthermore, she is eligible to compete for MacEwan during the 2008-09 season.
