Fine: Admin Error - NAIT Basketball - Iyekekpolor

Facts:

On January 15, 2011, the above player competed as a member of the NAIT men’s basketball team in a victory over SAIT.

Unfortunately, this player’s Supplemental Eligibility Form was not received in the ACAC Office until January 17, 2011. For games between January 1-15, the ACAC Operating Code requires Supplemental Eligibility Forms to be received 24 hours prior to the game in question. As a result, the above player was not eligible to play on January 15, 2011.

Ruling:

Article I Section 5 Rule 10.2 of the ACAC Operating Code is worded as follows:

As a result of any administrative errors by the member institutions regarding student athlete eligibility the ACAC Commissioner will issue a fine of $1,500 per occurrence.

Based on the above, NAIT is assessed a $1,500 fine, payable forthwith to the ACAC Office. The result of the game referenced above shall stand.
