2008-09 SeasonSeptember 17, 2008 On September 7, 2008, LCK visited SAIT in ACAC men’s soccer. During the game SAIT made 9 Substitutions in a 3-0 victory. Based on revisions made to the ACAC operating Code in December of 2007 LCK has protested the result of the game. It is clear that SAIT contravened Article I Sec. 13 Rule 8.1 of the OC which states that each team will be permitted to make a combined total of 5 substitutions. However, it appears that there was no intent on SAIT’s part to do so. The events of September 7 were marked by confusion and error on the part of the Officials and the SAIT coaching staff. It appears that by oversight the ASA was not advised of the OC change. However, there is an obligation on the part of ACAC members to be aware of the OC provisions that affect their teams and so Commissioner B. Hendsbee ruled that the match be re-played in Calgary at a date mutually agreeable to both schools. Both schools will bear their own costs in relation to the re-played match. Commissioner |
