Suspension: Lakeland Soccer - Omar Amador

( Commissioner's Rulings )

2010-11 Season

October 12, 2010

Facts:

Following an October 10, 2010 game, Lakeland’s Omar Amador (#8) turned to the referee and gave him the middle finger. He was then told that he would receive a red card.

Ruling:

The appropriate section of the ACAC Operating Code is as follows:

9.3.3.    Four Match Suspension: Red card offences resulting in an Immediate match ejection plus a four (4) game suspension.
9.3.3.1. Fighting, or
9.3.3.2. Foul or abusive language, spitting, harassing, or threats directed at an official.

In my opinion, Mr. Amador’s actions fall squarely within the meaning of 9.3.3.2 above. Such treatment of ACAC officials will not be tolerated. As a result, Mr. Amador is hereby suspended for four (4) games, to be served as follows:

  • October 16 vs. MRU
  • October 17 vs. MRU

Given that Lakeland has only two remaining games and will not qualify for the ACAC playoffs, Mr. Amador is also suspended for the first two (2) regular season games of the 2011 season.

Sincerely,

Bill Hendsbee ;
ACAC Commissioner
(2010-11, Hendsbee)
