CASE: Transfer after Injury and Academic Withdrawal

( Commissioner's Rulings )

June, 2006 - Commissioner's Casebook

(O.C. Art I, Sec 5, 1.1.2, 1.5.1.1)
A student suffered a “season ending” injury in volleyball within the first 20% of regular season games. It was ruled by the Commissioner that no official participation had occurred since the athlete received the injury within the first 30% of the league schedule. However, the student decided not to continue with school but had already missed the official withdrawal date; this resulted in a GPA of 0.00. This student wished to compete for another ACAC college during the following season.

RULING:

It was ruled that the student’s eligibility for the first semester of the following year be denied. Furthermore, it was determined that if the student met the GPA as established by the member institute, that she be permitted to join the ACAC league program commencing in the second semester of that year.
