2008-09 SeasonOctober 9, 2008 Keyano Women’s Volleyball Eligibility Ruling, Tena Brass – October 9, 2008 During the 2007-08 season, Tena Brass played for the Concordia women’s soccer team. Ms. Brass left the team and the school on October 28, 2007. Ms. Brass is presently a student at Keyano College. She seeks to be declared eligible to compete immediately for the KC women’s volleyball team based on Art. 1, Sec 5, Rule 1.1.11. Commissioner B. Hendsbee ruled that Ms. Brass has not met the conditions of Art. 1, Sec. 5, Rule 1.3.3.3 or Rule 1.1.4 .1. In order to comply with Rule 1.1.4.1, Ms. Brass could not have played within twelve months of September 2008 (the date of current registration). Commissioner B. Hendsbee has interpreted Rule 1.1.11 such that it would allow a student athlete to compete within twelve months of the end of the semester in which she competed. To rule otherwise would render Rule 1.1.4.1 meaningless. Accordingly, Mr. Brass will be eligible to compete for the KC women’s volleyball team effective January 1, 2009. Bill Hendsbee |
