2007-08 SeasonMarch 10, 2008 Commissioner Hendsbee received a complaint from NAIT regarding spectator harassment of their women's soccer team at the 2007-8 ACAC Women's Soccer Championships held at Mount Royal College. Despite the receipt of widely varying accounts of the incidents, Mr. Hendsbee's investigation substantiated that such harassment did occur, that the spectators involved were MRC students (members of the men's volleyball team) and that MRC staff members in attendance did not exercise proper responsibility in interdicting. As such, Mr. Hendsbee found MRC to be in violation of OC, Art. I, Sec. 3, 2.1 and Art. I, Sec. 8, 1 by committing an error of omission in not exercising appropriate initiative in responding to the harassment. Mr. Hendsbee referred the issue to the Conference Executive Committee with the recommendation the matter be presented to the membership to ensure that ACAC student-athletes enjoy a positive and supportive environment in which to compete.
