2009-10 SeasonSeptember 29, 2009 On September 19, 2009 and September 20, 2009 Micheleen Devine competed as a member of the Medicine Hat College women’s soccer team in a win over Lethbridge College and in a loss to Mount Royal University. Unfortunately, due to administrative error, Ms. Devine was not listed on MHC’s eligibility form although she had otherwise met all eligibility requirements. RULING: In past years, MHC’s oversight would have led to a forfeit of its win over Lethbridge College along with other sanctions. However, earlier this year the ACAC Council amended the Operating Code so that situations like these are to be dealt with in a manner that avoids forfeited results. Article I Section 5 Rule 10.2 of the ACAC Operating Code is worded as follows: As a result of errors by the administration of member institutions regarding student athlete eligibility the ACAC Commissioner has the authority to issue a fine of $1,500. Based on the above, MHC is assessed a $1,500 fine, payable forthwith to the ACAC Office. The results of the two matches referenced above shall stand.
