2008-09 SeasonOn October 26, 2008 near the end of the first half of the ACAC gold medal game, CUCA Coach Tony Roselli was dismissed. According to the Referee, the incident started when Mr. Roselli questioned a decision on the field. He did so vehemently despite a verbal warning from the Referee following numerous attempts by the Fourth Official to calm him down. Following the warning, Mr. Rosselli continued to verbally abuse the Referee. He was then dismissed. He initially refused to leave before finally doing so. On his way from the Technical Area, he shouted profanities at one of the Assistant Referees. After reviewing the detailed Misconduct Report and receiving input from Mr. Rosselli, the Fourth Official and the Senior Assistant Referee it was concluded that his comments were not made in such a way that the spectators present could overhear them. Commissioner B. Hendsbee has consistently reiterated in numerous rulings, the ACAC will not tolerate the abuse of its Officials by coaches or players, regardless of how frustrated they become during a game and for this reason based on Art. I, Sec. 13, Rule 9.3.3 and Rule 9.7.10 Mr. Roselli will be suspended for three games. As CUCA won the ACAC Championship, the school will be competing at the CCAA Championships in Kamloops next week. The suspension shall be served during CUCA’s first three games of the CCAA Championships. Commissioner B. Hendsbee |
