2008-09 SeasonOn November 14, 2008 NAIT Coach Don Phillips was ejected following receipt of his second technical foul of the game, which resulted in an automatic ejection. For his conduct following his ejection, the NAIT bench was assessed a third technical foul. According to the referee, Mr. Phillips yelled and gestured at the officials after disagreeing with a call made against one of his players. After being warned and persisting with the same behaviour, a technical foul was assessed. After continuing to insult the officials, a second technical foul was assessed and Mr. Phillips was ejected from the game. Following his ejection, the referee suggests that Mr. Phillips continued to berate the officials, suggesting that they had ruined a good game. Art. I Sec. 13 Rule 9.1 calls for a minimum one (1) game suspension. Mr. Phillips’ actions both before and after his ejection cannot be condoned. Those actions cross the line into unacceptable behavior. In particular, once Mr. Phillips had been ejected, it was his choice to leave the gymnasium quietly, without causing a further disturbance and without crossing the playing surface, yet he chose not to do so. Commissioner B. Hendsbee has been consistent in stating that abuse of game officials will not be tolerated. As a result of his actions, Mr. Phillips is suspended for one (1) additional game in addition to the automatic one (1) game suspension discussed above, for a total of a two (2) game suspension, to be served as follows:
