2017-18 SeasonOctober 13, 2017
GMU Men’s Hockey player Yaremchuk (#24) received a Game Misconduct during the last 10 minutes of an October 6, 2017 game, resulting in an automatic one (1) game suspension, which should have been served on October 7, 2017 vs. SAIT. Unfortunately, GMU’s coach was not aware of the automatic suspension arising from this incident and inadvertently played Mr. Yaremchuk the following night against SAIT, a game which SAIT won in overtime. The consequences of GMU using an ineligible player during the overtime loss are as follows: 1. The ACAC office is instructed to remove the point earned by GMU for the overtime loss on October 7, 2017; 2. Mr. Yaremchuk is to serve his one (1) game suspension on October 13, 2017 vs. PC; and 3. GMU is to forthwith pay a $500 fine to the ACAC Office. Please note that a further ruling will be forthcoming in relation to the actions between Mr. Yaremchuk and SAIT’s McCallum (#23) in the hallway after each player was ejected from the October 6, 2017 game.
