2015-16 SeasonDecember 15, 2015Facts: On November 20, 2015, Lakeland Men’s Volleyball Coach, Taylor Dyer was ejected during the 4th set for yelling and making rude remarks to game officials. Following his ejection, Coach Dyer continued to assist in coaching his team and used profanity on several occasions in referring to the referee. Ruling: Article I Section 3 Rule 3.1 of the ACAC Operating Code states as follows: Coaches have a responsibility to: 3.1.3 Consistently display high personal standards and project a favourable image of their sport and of coaching. 3.1.7 Treat opponents and officials with due respect both in victory and defeat and encourage student-athletes to act accordingly. Actively encourage student-athletes to uphold the rules of their sport and the spirit of such rules. The behavior exhibited by Coach Dyer falls well short of the standard expected of ACAC team officials. Based on the above, a suspension is warranted to reinforce the standard expected of ACAC team officials. Therefore, Coach Dyer is suspended for one (1) game, to be served as follows:
In addition, before being allowed to coach his team in an ACAC match, Coach Dyer is required to provide a written apology to the game officials in question in a form approved by ACAC General Manager, Mark Kosak. Sincerely, |
