2013-14 SeasonSeptember 16, 2013Facts: Keith Hansen of RDC has self-reported a violation involving Cassidy Anderson of the Women’s Hockey team. Both RDC and Ms. Anderson were under the impression that Ms. Anderson had completed eighteen (18) credit hours last academic year. However, it turns out that Ms. Anderson, in fact, only completed fifteen (15) credit hours, rendering her academically ineligible for the current semester. With RDC under the impression that Ms. Anderson was eligible, she competed in non-conference games on:
Ruling: It is clear that RDC inadvertently used an ineligible player during the above three games. Accordingly, Article I Section 5 Rule 10.1 applies: 10.1. Use of an Ineligible Student-Athlete Under the circumstances, based on the use of an ineligible athlete, RDC shall forfeit the results of all three (3) of the non-conference victories in question. Taking into account that were this simply an administrative error, the Operating Code would have called for an automatic fine of $500, RDC is also hereby fined $750, payable forthwith to the ACAC Office.
