1996-97 Season (O.C. Art I, Sec 14, 9.2.3.2) RULING: The player was considered to be in violation of ruling 9.2.3.2 even though he was not awarded a red card. This resulted in a 4 game suspension as per the O.C. SEE ALSO: Similar case in 2003-04 (Phipps) involved a player being ejected from a game after receiving a red card for denying a goal scoring opportunity. He was subsequently given a one game suspension. The player used foul and abusive language toward the official after being ejected from the game. The Commissioner ruled this to follow under the O.C. ruling 9.2.3.2 and he was suspended for 4 additional games. The suspension could be reduced to 2 games if he wrote a letter of apology to the official. |
