CASE: Providing Skates for Hockey Players |

Commissioner's Rulings

June, 2002 - Commissioner's Casebook A college asked if it would fall under the O.C. to supply skates for their players on their hockey team. RULING: It was ruled that it has not been the practice of ACAC colleges to provide skates to athletes. Although most colleges provide support with other equipment, it is a function of financial budgets to provide as much equipment as possible to maintain standards of protection and consistent appearance. Skates were ruled to be a personal item that would need to be custom fitted to each individual and would unlikely to be shared again for future teams. Skates were considered to be outside what is allowed in terms of financial aid to athletes. |
