June, 2002 - Commissioner's Casebook (O.C. Art I, Sec 5, 1.3.2, 1.3.3) RULING: The Commissioner ruled under normal circumstances the players name on the score sheet would indicate participation but due to the nature of her injury it is reasonable to assume she did not participate in these games. The year of eligibility was returned to the athlete. It was cautioned that the practice of placing an athlete on the score sheet intentionally to gain eligibility for playoffs, or even unintentionally, is not condoned by the Conference. SEE ALSO: A similar case in 2000-01 (Meadus) ruled the player ineligible to play. The athlete admitted he had put his name on the score sheet in hopes he would be eligible for playoffs if the team was to qualify. |
