June, 2006 - Commissioner's Casebook
(O.C. Art I, Sec 3, 2.1, 2.1.1, 2.1.2, 2.1.3)
During a game in a CCAA national championship, a college Athletic Director made inappropriate comments to the officials regarding their ability to officiate the game and consistently displayed a negative attitude toward the officials through his actions and comments. This was the second time a formal complaint was submitted concerning comments and actions from this particular AD.
RULING:
The AD was directed to remove himself from any involvement, interaction and/or association with the basketball referees assigned to officiate at the CCAA Men’s Championship being hosted by the AD’s college future years. It was also advised he assign the responsibility for officials at his college, including ACAC regular season, play-offs, and CCAA Championships to another individual.
