June, 2006 - Commissioner's Casebook
(O.C. Art I, Sec.3, 1.2)
Following a serious incident in a soccer game, the Athletic Director (AD) from one of the colleges involved voiced his disappointment regarding the Commissioner’s rulings in the case to the media on more than one occasion.
RULING:
The AD was deemed to be in violation of the Operating Code and placed on probation for 12 months. If at any time during this period the AD was found in violation of the O.C. the AD would be immediately suspended pending a review by the Executive. The AD was also required to submit a letter of apology to the Commissioner.
SEE ALSO: Similar cases regarding criticism of game officials to the media by a coach can be found in the rulings from Meadus, 2000-01. The same probationary period was given in those cases as well.
